Daisy or Flower |
![]() |
I have done LOTS of 3D flowers - my favorite being from Ecard1. | ![]() |
1.
When doing the daisy or that flower that looks like a globe thistle (22), I start with a layer or 2 of organza - occassionally I use Solvy or Avalon on top. |
2.
On the daisy I do the 1st color, on the globe thistle I do the first 2 colors (Normally both the same color - makes them look more like a side view of a crysthamum)
3.
After those colors are done, I trim around the organza (I've learnt not to go to deeply as the petals wilt after a wash or two if too much organza is removed!)
4.
On the globe flower design I leave some fabric at the bottom, for the leaves to stitch through to hold it to my garment! Then I start stitching the flowers on the garment.
5.
If I want a multi layered look I do the petals (again) on the base fabric) If I'm not going with as heavy a design I don't resttich the petals, I simply determine where the center is & hold the petals in place before the thread of the center or petals tacks them in place.

Pansy |

I have also done the pansy |
1.
For the pansy, I use felt for the lower section of flowers. I used a yellow felt last time.
2.
I stitched out color 2 on the felt. Then went back to my base garment & stitched color 1 & then I placed my lower petals in place & stitched out color 4 & 5.

Butterfly |
I've also done the butterfly from card 26 (design 35). |
1.
I decreased the size as much a possible, used a 60 weight thread, stitched out only the outline stitches, then carefully placed it & started stitching out the antanae, then placed wings under the needle when the design got to the body part. I have stitched butterflies on various colors of organza as well as craft tulle. (thus different colors of wings) I often break the rules & don't use a stabilizer, or just lay a scrap of solvy over the area I'm working on. |
